I'm an independent content/media professional. I help people communicate effectively, authentically, and creatively.
Amy Gahran is a conversational media consultant and freelance writer/editor based in Boulder, CO.
I help people and organizations communicate effectively and creatively. After all, what's the point of communication that doesn't serve your goals and strengthen your organization or community?
I also help people discover their ideal writing process -- which is always fun. And I help people decide which of the endless stream of new communication channels might benefit them.
My projects include workshops, training, coaching, writing, editing, research, journalism, project management, e-learning, and much more. My clients have included the National Governor's Association, Eastman Kodak, the Poynter Institute, and the Society of Environmental Journalists -- as well as many individuals.
After getting my journalism degree from Temple Univ. (1990), I worked as a journalist, editor, and managing editor. In 1997 I went independent as an online content consultant. In 1998 I started CONTENTIOUS, which offers news and musings on how we communicate in the online age.
I am passionate about effective communication. This may sound idealistic, but I honestly believe that more effective, authentic, and diverse communication of all types can help fix many things that have gone screwy in this world.
I'm insatiably curious and intellectually omnivorous.
