If you're an SEJ member (or if you're coming to SEJ2007 -- even if you're not an SEJ member) and
you've got something to say about the conference, you're welcome to participate in this blog. Of
course, anyone can post comments to items posted in this blog. But if
you want to be able to post to the blog, here's the deal:
Blogging is for the self-motivated!
You will have to get yourself set up with our blogging service Typepad (it's
free) and teach yourself how to use it. We're unable to offer blogging training beyond the tutorials offered on this site.
Follow these steps to get set up as a contributor to this blog...
- E-mail Amy Gahran and tell me you'd like to contribute. Explain
your connection to SEJ2006. If you're an SEJ member (attending the
conference or not), or an attendee (exhibitor, student, etc. on site),
or working on the conference in some other capacity. I'll then issue
you an e-mail invitation to join this blog.
- Follow the directions in your invitation to set up a free Typepad account, if you don't already have one. After that, you'll accept the invitation to join the SEJ2006 blog
- Read these tutorials:
How to create a post, insert images, and add video. That'll get you
up to speed quickly on posting to this blog.
- Configure your Typepad account to allow extended (2-part) posts. I've explained how & why this is important for this blog.
- Create a draft post. At first, you'll only have permission to post in draft form -- not publish to the live site. This gives you a chance to learn
typepad safely. Try including links, splitting the post into two parts
(introduction and continuation), and maybe inserting a picture. Not
sure what to write about? Here are 10 ideas.
- When your draft post is done, e-mail me and tell me it's ready to go. I'll look it over and if everything's OK, I'll approve it and it will publish to the site. By this point you should know Typepad well enough to run with it. So I'll then upgrade your permissions so you can publish directly to the site without my approval.
Happy blogging!
